On August 10, the Zambian government claimed that it had unilaterally temporarily closed Zambia's border crossing with Congo (DRC) for security reasons.
The southeastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is bordered by Zambia, and the Congo border port is an important transportation and logistics hub in the region.
