According to CCTV News on July 3, Siemens AG of Germany received a notice from the U.S. government stating that the U.S. has lifted export restrictions on Chinese chip design software. According to the company's statement, this German supplier has restored full access to its software and technology for Chinese customers.
Siemens responded to The Paper, stating that it has recently been notified by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) that the control restrictions on the export of electronic design automation (EDA) software and technology to Chinese customers, which were proposed by Siemens in a letter dated May 23, are no longer applicable. Based on this, and in compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations, Siemens has resumed full access to software and technology classified under Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) 3D991 and 3E991, and has resumed sales and technical support services to Chinese customers.
\For over 175 years, Siemens has been committed to supporting customers worldwide, including in China and the United States. In today's rapidly changing global trade environment, we are aware that these changes may cause inconvenience for our customers, and we appreciate their patience and understanding,\ the company said.
