On June 25, at the 2024 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of New Champions-Summer Davos Forum, TCL founder and chairman Li Dongsheng said in an interview with The Paper News that in the face of a series of challenges brought by anti-globalization, enterprises should jointly build industrial capabilities with local governments, empower local industrial chains, drive the improvement of local manufacturing capabilities, promote overseas localized operations, and contribute to local economic and social development, thereby achieving their own global and sustainable development.

Li Dongsheng introduced at the forum that in the past 20 years, TCL has established more than 20 production companies around the world, formed a global operation, and realized design, production, manufacturing and sales locally. He told The Paper News that since entering Vietnam in 1999, TCL has gone through 25 years of globalization and completed the transformation from "internationalization" to "globalization". By promoting overseas localized operations, it has contributed to the local economic and social development and environmental protection. Make contributions, achieve win-win sharing, and achieve continuous growth in its own overseas revenue. In the past five years, TCL's overseas revenue has increased from 59 billion yuan to 125.3 billion yuan, with an average annual growth of 17.6%. During the same period, exports have increased from US$9 billion to US$17.3 billion, with an average annual growth of 15.2%, achieving the expansion of overseas business and increasing exports. Promote each other.

Li Dongsheng said at the forum that the business model of simply exporting products is unsustainable, and the development of economic globalization should balance the interests of various countries. If an enterprise going abroad can bring investment, create jobs, cultivate suppliers, etc. to the host country, and contribute to the economic development of the host country, then the development of the enterprise's business in the host country can also receive local support. The globalization of Chinese companies must shift from exporting products to exporting more industrial capabilities. Only when they have the awareness and responsibility to promote local economic development can the development of global businesses develop more smoothly.

Li Dongsheng believes that at present, Chinese technology-based companies still face certain difficulties when going abroad. He analyzed the paper's news and said that due to the trend of anti-globalization, trade barriers have been increased in major countries or regional markets. Traditional import and export models have faced a series of challenges. Enterprises 'global expansion need to transform into localized industrial and supply chain layout, which has increased time, operating and other costs to a certain extent. In addition, anti-globalization hinders the global flow of innovation elements and limits the formation of an international ecosystem of scientific and technological innovation.

However, Li Dongsheng remains optimistic about economic globalization. He said at the forum that the general trend of economic globalization is unchangeable and driven by market forces. At present, some countries use non-market and non-free economic administrative power to change the direction of global trade. This practice is unsustainable.

Li Dongsheng also talked to The Paper News about his understanding of new productivity. He believes that new productivity is the integration of factors and capabilities for high-quality development, and must be achieved through four aspects: industrial transformation and upgrading, technological innovation driven, new industrialization and global development. Specifically, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries is the key to China's manufacturing industry's response to global competition; scientific and technological innovation is the driving force behind the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries; new industrialization is a key measure for China's manufacturing industry to rebuild its competitive advantages; globalization is the only way for the development of Chinese enterprises. Enterprises will be eliminated without going out to sea.
