According to CCTV News on the 18th, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Su Lin paid a state visit to China from August 18 to 20. At 9:25 a.m. on the 18th, General Secretary Su Lin arrived in Guangzhou by special plane.

According to a report by Xinhua Agency on the 15th, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the same day that at the invitation of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Su Lin will visit China from August 18 to 20. General Secretary Xi Jinping and President of the State will hold talks with General Secretary Su Lin and President of the State. Premier Li Qiang, Chairman Zhao Leji, and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning will meet with him respectively.

Reported that China also became the first country he visited after taking office as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. During his stay in Guangzhou, General Secretary Surin plans to visit the red footprints of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in China and will communicate and interact with friendly people from China and Vietnam.

Surin was born in July 1957. He served as President of Vietnam in May 2024. In August, he was elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and continues to serve as President of the State. This is the first state visit to China by General Secretary Su Lin and President of the State.

According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency on the 18th, on August 18, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Surin and his wife left Hanoi with a high-level Vietnamese delegation to begin a state visit to China. Accompanying General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Surin during this trip were: Du Van Thang, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Central Committee, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front of Vietnam; Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, and Minister of the Organization Department of the Central Committee; Nguyen Chun Sheng, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Committee; General Phan Van Giang, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Minister of National Defense; General Liang Sanguang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Public Security; Le Huai Trong, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of External Relations of the CPC Central Committee; Nguyen Viok, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee; Tran Liuguang, Member of the CPC Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; Nguyen Ha Dinh, Member of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; and members of the CPC Central Committee who are leading comrades of some central organs; Assistant General Secretary and Assistant to the President of the State; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the People's Republic of China.

According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency on August 15, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pui Thanh talked about three major expectations for the visit on the eve of the visit: First, maintain high-level strategic exchanges, consolidate the foundation of political mutual trust, and point out the direction for the development of bilateral relations in the new era; Second, agree on the main directions and major measures to effectively build a strategically significant Vietnam-China community with a shared future; Promote new progress in practical cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of railway interconnection, agricultural product trade, high-quality investment, currency and finance, cultural tourism, and people-to-people exchanges; third, through candid, sincere and substantive exchanges on territorial and boundary issues, jointly and properly handle remaining issues, better manage and resolve maritime differences, not allow maritime issues to affect the healthy development of relations between the two parties and the two countries, and contribute to maintaining regional and world peace, stability, and cooperative development.

A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 15th that China hopes to continue traditional friendship through this visit, deepen the construction of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, work together to follow the path of socialist modernization with their own characteristics, jointly promote the development of the world's socialist cause, and contribute to regional and world peace, stability and development.
