Data released by Kunming Customs on the same day showed that in the past three years, the types of goods transported across the border by China-Laos Railway have expanded from the initial 500 to the current 3000; in the first 11 months of this year, Kunming Customs supervised the import and export of goods through China-Laos Railway. 4.34 million tons and a value of 16.81 billion yuan, both exceeding the whole of last year.
Since its opening of operation on December 3, 2021, the role of the "Golden Corridor" of the China-Laos Railway has become increasingly prominent, effectively promoting economic and trade exchanges along the route. According to customs statistics, in the past three years, Kunming Customs has supervised the import and export of goods through the China-Laos Railway to exceed 10.6 million tons, and the value of goods has exceeded 44 billion yuan. The highest monthly import and export freight volume has exceeded 510,000 tons, an increase of 12.6 times compared with the first month of opening.
Whether it is mangosteen, durian, mangoes, and bananas in Southeast Asia, or grapes, citrus, lettuce, and lettuce in China, specialty agricultural food products from various countries are taking advantage of the "fresh" opportunity on this railway line. In the first 11 months of this year, the value of fruits exported through the China-Laos Railway reached 158 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 51 times; the value of imported fruits was 3.81 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 79.3%.
At the same time, cross-border tourism continues to heat up. In the past three years, the China-Laos Railway has sent more than 346,000 inbound and outbound passengers, and the number of sources of passengers has increased to 108 countries and regions. With the continuous improvement of the construction of "smart travel inspection", under no abnormal circumstances, it now takes only about 10 seconds on average for each passenger to clear customs, and inbound and outbound passengers can achieve "senseless customs clearance."
